With all the rage about the end of the PC era and the beginning of the tablet one, I think there is plenty of space for innovating form, fit and function.

Never mind the many iPad "me toos" out there, take a look at this cool virtual tablet concept HERE by Sono Mocci that recently entered the Fujitsu 2011 Design Award competition and was shortlisted from over 1000 other concepts:

Amazing libraries.

Picture_2

I know, ebooks have surpassed paper books in pretty much every statistic lately. However, I bet that sitting down in any of these wonderful world libraries with a Kindle or tablet of choice would be an experience not even close to reading "real" (paper) books.

Take a look at these great photos of amazing libraries: which one do you prefer? I want to visit them all!

How to easily make a billion dollars (no, it's not by starting off with two billion dollars...).

The other day I was sifting through my stumbleupon bookmarks, and I found this incredible article from 2009 about the easiest way to make a billion dollars.

Picture_2

The instructions are actually quite simple:

  • STEP 1: Form a bank.
  • STEP 2: Round up a bunch of unemployed friends to be "bankers."
  • STEP 3: Raise $1 billion of equity.  (This is the only tricky step. And it's not that tricky.  See full article.)
  • STEP 4: Borrow $9 billion from the Fed at an annual cost of 0.25%.
  • STEP 5: Buy $10 billion of 30-year Treasuries paying 4.45%
  • STEP 6: Sit back and watch the cash flow in.

And you know what? Can't help but think they could just work!

Customizable computer keyboard [concept].

Fifteen years ago I bought myself a Microsoft Natural keyboard. I found an immediate relief to my tired wrists, and I even started to type faster and more accurately.

So it's no surprise to me that somebody finally came up with a cool concept about a flexible and fully configurable keyboard, naturally exploiting the technology advancements:

Vintage crooks and criminal's photographs from the Twenties.

Vintage photographs are always fascinating, with their message about a long gone past of people, places and happenings.

When the pictures are about convicts, crooks and criminals, the sense of drama and historical pathos is increased ten fold:
